As the new moon rises in Gemini (Thursday, June 6 at 6:40 a.m. MDT) I am fascinated by the idea of the Twins.
Light and darkness…head and heart…a mirror image of you and me. My guides recently gave me the message: “Everything is everything.” I’m still sitting with it, but I believe it is an encouragement to let go of dualistic thinking, an invitation to get more comfortable with holding opposites, which are really only a part of the cycle of wholeness.
Astrologers say the energy of this new moon is heavily intertwined with the planet Venus, the planet of love and beauty…a kinship of sorts. I recently read that we are at a turning point in Venus’s cycle where it shifts from being the Morning Star to the Evening Star, and that ancients believed this signaled a change from hate and war to love and peace. We are headed for a more beautiful world, but since we are smack-dab in the chaos that precedes calm in the cycle, we have work to do.
New moon is an opportune time for setting intention. It’s the time to focus on what we want to create or take action toward in our lives, which in turn, impacts the broader world. Think of the dark sky as your blank slate. Anything is possible.
My intentions for this new moon are to perform acts of kindess (love) and to steep myself in poetry (beauty). This will require me to dance with both darkness and light, to engage both my head and my heart. As Gemini is an air sign, I will spend some time outdoors connecting with the energy of Air which represents new beginnings, clarity and expression—all supports for my intentions. I’m not a fan of the wind, but everything is everything, right?
