A few nights ago, I dreamed my father and I were digging in the garden. We were pulling up handfuls of moist, dark earth teeming with earthworms, which he had warned me about before we put our hands in. The treasures we were searching for turned out to be a crustacean and a black spiral-shaped mollusk, and according to what I found later on the Internet, they were ancient creatures.
The meaning of this dream is as rich and mysterious as the earth my dad and I cupped in our hands, and I am still unpacking it. But one thing I know for sure is that it’s pointing toward deep healing from the inside out.
This doesn’t surprise me given the transformational times we’re in. Healing is a restoration of balance, and it’s a huge understatement to say that as a collective, we are in dire need of balance. For me personally there is a desire to dig deep to shed some old, stuck layers of energy stored in my body that have been holding me in a pattern of chronic physical pain. My need to balance my being mirrors what’s needed in the collective, the micro reflects the macro. For both, the healing must begin from within.
It doesn’t surprise me this particular dream came when it did because I recently began a healing regimen that addresses the hidden internal roots of my physical congestion.
I wonder what you are feeling at the moment. And if it happens to be discomfort or pain, can you follow it to a source deep inside of you?
Because we are all part of the collective consciousness, when we choose our own healing–seeking to restore our own balance–we contribute to collective healing. Can you imagine our world if everyone was focused on this?
Fortunately, the cosmos is conspiring to support us. At 12:58 a.m. Mountain Time on Friday March 14, we will experience the totality of a full lunar eclipse. Lunar eclipses always happen during the full moon, and this moon will be in the sign of Virgo, also known as the healer and the green witch. Virgo is the symbol of the Maiden of Plenty, a sovereign goddess, one who is complete unto herself, one who conjures medicine and magic from within. The Virgo glyph is an M, for medicine, with the tail pointing inward.
Eclipses provide portals for deep transformation, and lunar eclipses are said to be optimal for release or shedding what we don’t need as we transform. To revisit my dream, perhaps we can view these thoughts, habits, beliefs, etc., as constricting shells that no longer fit us.
As we head into the first of four eclipses this year, we can call on the earthy, feminine medicine of Virgo to support us in releasing what needs to go so we may heal from the inside out. So, we can be the fully sovereign beings we are meant to be.
Whether we welcome a release or find it challenging, may we trust that we can allow the wormy soil to slip through our fingers to reveal ancient treasures hidden within.
