On Sunday, we experience a second full moon in a row in the sign of Capricorn, symbolized by the sea-goat. But what the heck is a sea-goat?
This half-goat and half-fish appears in many cultural myths, and one way to interpret its meaning is that it initiates new levels of consciousness. That resonates with me in these times.
Astrologers say this second Capricorn moon helps us bring to completion anything that began under the first Capricorn full moon on June 21. You may want to look back at your calendar or journal to jog your memory.
Since my night dreams tend to be especially active at full moon time, I reviewed my dream and meditation notes. Beginning at full moon and during the past month, I have been visited by many spirit animals, although none a sea-goat.
I have had sleep, meditation and waking time interactions with hummingbird, snake, jaguar, lion, ferret, tiger, wolf, possum, bear, deer and elk. To be fair, I’ve been working with some shamanism practices, so perhaps that’s why all the animals. Yet the messages they have brought have all supported a new level of consciousness. Before the last full moon, I had been in a sort of stagnant phase, without a lot of impetus to act. These animals have invited me to move forward, but in a more instinctual and powerful way, with grace and ferocity, directly aiming at my target.
Capricorn energy is all about ambition, overcoming obstacles, getting things done. As we are deep in the chaos of old structures crumbling, the sea-goat may be encouraging us to step forward in a new way. Worry and inflexibility are useless. If you think of a sea-goat, you might imagine a creature that sure-footed, but also fluid.
Full moons are an opportune time to let go of what is not serving. This bonus Capricorn full moon can support us in letting go of all that is too heavy to carry on our journey forward. Another thing the animal spirits have brought to my attention is efficiency of energy, so letting go of the weighty stuff makes perfect sense.
I’m curious what you are sensing during this full moon. Send me a note if you feel like sharing!
